We are an integrative plant medicine village where you can live amongst our families while being offered the opportunity to heal from chronic illness and find your most profound purpose. We offer comfortable, private accommodations so that our patients have the personal space to integrate their ayahuasca ceremonies. Marosa is not a luxury-based center and does not invest in luxury-type amenities. Instead, we invest in healers with extraordinary skills to give you the best possible outcome, and keep our max ceremony occupancy to 14, inclucing apprentices and facilitators. If you are looking for an experience catered to a western lifestyle, you may want to choose another retreat center. However, if you want to experience the full depth of the Shipibo tradition and the possibilities of plant dieting, this is the place for you. Our retreats start every Sunday and are customizable for your needs on a week-to-week basis. We offer stays from 7 days to 90 days. Patients that stay at least 11 days will be allowed to participate in Master Plant Diets.
Marosa Healing Center is owned by Maestra Angela Sanchez Rios, who has over twenty years of experience working with Ayahuasca and is one of the most respected shamans in Iquitos. She treats her patients as if they were her children. Her care is not just during ayahuasca ceremonies. She tends to your unique needs by providing many different types of medicine, including plant vapor baths and plant tonics, and prepares all of the master diets for those who are dieting. Her smiles and laughter are infectious.

March 11, 2025 at 7:59 pmI’m immensely grateful for my time at Marosa healing center. I spent 11 days doing a dieta prescribed by the Maestra based on my issues. This place certainly prioritizes healing and nature based cures. The shamans are well versed in plant medicine and help folks with specific issues. My stay was comfortable, I learnt during my time to be respectful of the forest, as we are deep in it, I learnt to ask for permission from the plants and the animals that inhabit this place, as this is how the Shipibo people also conduct themselves: This is not a psychedelic getaway, but a place where people with important healing work to do, come seek help from the plants. I found the support of the shamans, the medicine; the icaros and the ceremonies to be very authentic. I have left with many many blessings and clarity of my issues, the plant continues to work couple of weeks after the last dose it seems. All three Shamans had their strengths and helped with the healing in different ways., they see the pain and sing to us specific icaros to help release them.
The support of Mila the facilitator, Tony the manager and Markham the Shaman in training (his powerful icaros) was crucial to my experience there. Each of them showed up in their way and supported this first time experience to make it the best it could have been. I have nothing but gratitude for their dedication and presence; whether it was logistical or integration work the day after (with the amazing Mila) or support during ceremonies, I also want to thank the folks at the kitchen, and other helpers, all Part of their family.
I felt safe to rely on them; I believe I purged and cleansed a lot of hurt and negativity I was carrying around for years and I am yearning to go back and sit with the medicine again: I’m in awe of the power of mother nature and all the ways in which she tends to help. And this center has been a crucial part of me realizing it. I recommend this place for anyone who is serious about healing, willing to endure the process of dieting, living simple, and following the rhythms of the shipibo folks. The key is to be a humble seeker and not be greedy. With some unlearning of these city ways, you will leave with many gifts and perhaps ask specific questions and find your answers too!
