To become a butterfly, the caterpillar should give up its previous form. After that, it becomes something new, while it keeps all the good it has a caterpillar. Our retreat center is doing the same. ๐ฆ

May 17, 2023 at 1:01 pmI spent a week at this fantastic place, located along a stretch of waterfront that was about a 90 minute boat ride from Iquitos. The center has a maximum group size of 6, with my week only having 4 participants that enabled greater personal attention if needed. The staff there really exude love in everything that they do. I would be remiss to not mention that dogs that make the center their home and offer their attention too.
In addition to the Ayahuasca ceremonies, we were treated to yoga, jungle walks and boat trip on the Amazon. I really appreciated the jungle walk where the knowledgeable staff could identify the flora and fauna, along with the Maestro who pointed out the plants used in the ayahuasca brew.
The ceremonies started on time and were supported by the team, offering translation and assistance wherever needed. The facility had electricity and internet access via satellite. The room was more than expected with a bathroom and fan. I recommend a trip to this center to expand your personal journey.

April 18, 2023 at 11:36 amI was at The Light of Shipibo retreat center for a week.
A beautiful place, full of peace and tranquility with vegetation, flora, and fauna. The room they assigned me had ventilation and natural lighting. Due to the freshness of the environment and the size of the room, there was no need to use a fan. The bed is quite comfortable and cozy with mosquito nets on the windows and an additional one for the bed.
The care provided at the center by the team was excellent, always attentive to our needs and ready to provide support for the healing process, listening carefully and advising wisely.
During the ceremonies carried out with Master Shipibo, the team provided attention and care, always in an atmosphere of respect. I felt without any fear, the full moon accompanied us during these ceremonies, turning the jungle environment into something truly magical.
The attention provided by the maestro shaman helped us to learn and understand myself. This helped me a lot with the healing process. It was something that I truly needed.
The tours in the river and the jungle were incredible, it is advisable to wear a swimsuit always ready to bathe, it is necessary to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts due to mosquitoes and the sun, make sure that they are made of cotton or linen. Also consider taking a light raincoat in case of rain, a hat, sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.

March 28, 2023 at 5:38 amI visited this place 7 months ago, my review is also on their google maps rating with photos. I just like to take the time to rate them again because they deserve it. I hope many people read all these nice reviews and have the same great experience i had there. I could litterly copy past the last review below mine. The team is great? Joshua, Hairo (the shaman), Jino, Lady, your in such good hands!
Man, writing this and reflecting makes me want to go back. So hopefully many people find this place in their search of getting in touch with their spiritual side. Really a perfect place to do so.

March 3, 2023 at 5:07 amMy review is coming in with only a (relatively) short (I was here first week of Oct 2022) delay. My apologies.
This was my first Ayahuasca retreat and of course it was a truly profound experience, but even more so, the experience of meeting the people there was life-changing and it will stay with me forever. The other only two guests I now consider friends forever. The team they have there feels more like a family and I felt part of it too, Joshua I cannot begin to describe, but I’m grateful to have met him and to have received from his loving compassion. Jino is a walking encyclopedia, seems to know everything about the jungle, answers any question and soothes any worry. Lady D is like the mistress of the house, the lovely and kind type, genuine and caring. Last but not least, the Maestro (trained by his father, a well known shaman – gets mentioned in Peter Gorman’s book) has a strong but peaceful presence. Honestly, it’s worth paying them a visit even without the Ayahuasca haha!
The center is less than an hour on the boat from Iquitos and being there in the Amazon jungle was like a dream. The place is beautiful and comfortable by any standards. I had my own room with a private bathroom. The kitchen is open space and there’s a huge collection of super-interesting books. The place of ceremony is separate and definitely magical. There’s also a sort of pond, really nice for dips and a little swimming. You’ll get a chance to explore the jungle a little and swim in the Amazon. I will miss that place.
Thank you Light of the Shipibo!

January 8, 2023 at 12:03 pmDear reader, I’m about to share with you my love for this place and it’s people. I’m sure that if you’ll decide to go there, your review will be the same as the following one.
The time spent in the “Light of the Shipibo” wasย ย exceptionally bright andย ย full of discoveries.
This is a quiet place with loving people that are acting out their best intentions.
This is the first time in my life when I experienced such a pure love from strangers.
Joshua and Julia – the owners of this place, are on their own journey to healing and expanding their minds and hearts. They dig into themselves as deep as they can bear. They bond with the guests by joining the ayahuasca ceremonies and they walk the path together with us, as our comrades and brothers-in-arms.
To make this process efficient, they built a place with perfect conditions for this kind of work, and they are willing to share this space with anyone who is having similar goals.
The staff that they surrendered themselves with, is their perfect reflection.ย
People that are cooking, are doing it with such love, that the simplest rice become remarkably delicious.
Everyone is smiling and is doing all necessary to facilitate your experience at the center.
I want to highlight Jino, one of the leaders of this place. He is a wise, intelligent and loving young man. He will entertain you with his deep love for the jungle, animals and overwhelming erudition. Jino is always present during the ceremonies as a supporter and you can feel that from the place he is sitting, irradiates an extremely positive vibe.
People like Jino and others are hard to find and the fact that they are all concentrated in one single place, tells a lot.
An important thing was the low number of participants in the ceremony (there were only five of us). This allowed us to strongly bond with each other and to know each other’s struggles.ย I consider everyone who accompanied me on this journey , to be more than my friends. We are still in touch and I hope that we will keep this connection as a lifelong one.
Everything what happened was tailor-made. There was no “conveyor attitude”. The needs of all the guests were met with compassion and understanding.
If Love and Health are plants, then to help them grow, you would want a place with fertile soil, a lot of sun, humidity and skillful people that know how to make it happen. “Light of the Shipibo” has all the ingredients.
After finding in this place love, friendship, brotherhood, health and purpose, I will surely return to “Light of the Shipibo” to remind myself about the lessons learned and to go further, deeper into the new ones.
Peace, love, Sun.
