The Setting

A beautiful view of Vilcabamba, EcuadorWe offer San Pedro ceremonies each week in a cozy, private, safe, and relaxing space, The countryside around Santa Isabel, Ecuador (just outside of Cuenca) is stunningly beautiful and provides the backdrop for what is sure to be a profound experience for you, as it has consistently been for us as well.

The Medicine

Slices of the powerful cactus, San PedroSan Pedro, also known as Huachuma or Wachuma, is a sacred cactus that has been used in shamanic plant medicine ceremonies for thousands of years in the Amazonian region.

It is said to be a plant teacher, and you will quickly discover why as you begin to have a conversation with the spirit of the plant, which is known as Grandfather San Pedro. Because, just a like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have even felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.

The Ceremony

plant-teacherEvery day starts with a warm cup of tea of coffee and friendly conversation as we settle into the new day.

Then, around 10a.m. Steve smudges us all with white sage to clear any sort of negative energies that may be present.

Next, we sit in a small circle, and Steve shares some basic guidelines to the ceremony, and then one-by-one, we each share our intentions with the medicine. This might be as simple as “My intention is to know myself better”, or you might choose to go into more detail.

The medicine is then poured in a glass for each person, and after taking as much time with it as you would prefer, you are welcomed to drink the medicine and find a nice place to settle in.

From then on, the primary element to the ceremony is a conversation that will begin in your head between you and the medicine. You might liken this to speaking to yourself silently, although it will very likely soon be clear that the entity you’re speaking to is a very wise plant teacher who is lovingly known as Grandfather San Pedro.

Just like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have ever felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.

You will feel the primary effects of the medicine for about 10 hours, during which time you’ll be given plenty of space for solitude, surrounded by the amazing beauty of the Ecuadorian countryside.

This provides many opportunities to look inside yourself in many different ways, and you will have an unlimited amount of Steve’s support, not only as a warm, gentle human being, but also as a trained and experienced counselor, with specialties in addictions and childhood trauma.

Steve is always within earshot if support is needed, and he checks on you periodically to see how you’re doing. You’re also welcome to roam around the property to find whatever little perch suits you best.

Midway through the ceremony, fresh fruit is served, which is always a welcomed treat, and at the end of each ceremony, a warm and hardy meal is served which really warms your bones to the core.

Finally, Steve provides angel card readings which you will likely find quite illuminating and may provide some clarification to your experiences throughout the day.

The Facilitator

The San Pedro ceremony facilitator - Steve Eagle SewellWorkshops are held at the Eagle’s Nest – home of Steve Eagle Sewell – who is self-described as a plant medicine specialist and has chosen to dedicate his life to providing plant medicine to those who need it most.

And after a 2-year apprenticeship in Peru, he’s also facilitated ceremony for over 3,000 people and drank the medicine himself over 500 times. He is well acquainted with it’s healing power as the ultimate healer of addiction, dis-ease and dis-order.

The Bottom Line

If you want to discover who you are, what you believe in, how to heal, and how to find your path, you’ve found the right place 🙂

I was here for a month and then stayed another week because I enjoyed it so much. This is a very nice setting for healing with San Pedro. There is plenty of space there to be alone with yourself and the medicine and just meditate or walk around their property, which is beautiful. The medicine itself is strong and I had a productive time with it each time I drank. Steve and Samay were very supportive and allowed me to just be myself. Everything was very chill overall. Also Samay is a great cook and the food was wonderful. This is a perfect place if you prefer small groups, as there are never more than a few guests there at a time and plenty of room to work on yourself. Great experience!

During my 7 month journey through South America, volunteering for a month and taking san pedro 3 times a week has been the highlight of my trip.I have written over 50 pages on the insights I have received from the medicine, and I am amazed how magical the experiences have been while healing myself with the help of Steve and Sammey.
Both of them are genuine people, caring, straightforward while always keeping your best interest at heart, because getting our way is not always the best way.
Sammey makes amazing dishes, which taste even better after san pedro,at the end of the ceremony! And her bliss bars…OMG are amazing!!I tried several times to make them myself,ut they dont taste even close to the way she makes them!
I am forever grateful for this amazing experiece!!At this wonderful place,I felt as if I was in an alternate reality…it felt too good to be real…spectacular.
I hope my destiny bring me back to this amazing place, one day in the future. My memories at this wonderful place will forever stay in my heart! With much gratitude to Steve and Sammey!!

In April I was able to make a two week workshop with Steve and Sammy. Upon entering the property I immediately felt safe. This sanctuary was beyond Beautiful. I was nourished, cared for and held in a sacred space. I approached this experience with an open heart, putting aside the slight fear in the beginning. The fear was gone quickly. This sacred cactus assisted me in moving things trapped in my mind causing me turmoil in my life with such Loving care. So much Love. I have never in my life felt such a connection to nature, truly profound. It is difficult to put into words for me. I would say, if you are looking to do some inner work and come to a more meaningful life or looking for answers I would highly suggest San Pedro workshops. Steve was what I would call a compassionate guardian. He assisted in processing some of my trauma in a most powerful way. I am ever grateful for his guidance. Sammy kept me fed with fresh foods from market. She always smiles and is always willing to help. I will be back soon! Much more to learn. Gratitude Steve and Sammy

    Love

unfortunately I only spend 1 day with san pedro, steve and samay and all the other lovely people.
it was a really great experience. I felt welcome and comfortable even though I just met them.
the experience with he medicine itself was strong and made a big impression so I decided straight away that I ll come back soon and spend some more time there to go deeper.
I can totally recommend to stay there and connect with san pedro!

I felt so deeply safe and cared for here. Steve helped guide me to process a lot about my mom’s passing. It was the first time in five years that I’ve written her a letter and my heart is so much lighter and easier and at-peace. The space is super user-friendly for English-speakers. It’s so refreshing to be in a ceremony that respects and honors San Pedro, while also displaying such profound humility. No shamanic ego-boasting here. 100% care, concern, and loving light. Steve and Samay make me feel so comfortable to go deep, but also to remind myself to fly and enjoy the ride. This place is all heart. Great sense of humor too! It felt really accessible for me to work with the medicine here. And the dogs are profound teachers too! 😉 I absolutely love this place and will be back!
