A great team of male and female Shaman and volunteers with lots of experience offering a safe, supportive environment for experiencing and working with plant medicines. The environment is stunning with the spacious gated site nestled in the natural beauty of the Mindo Cloud Forrest valley. The new meeting house is stunning with solid, cushioned seating enabling a comfortable ceremony experience or allowing people to lay out if preferred. The program was well balanced with sufficient time to rest, refuel with the delicious healthy food or network/ journal. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and sufficient allowing me to. get a great sleep every night. The mid week included laundry service was a welcomed surprise. All of the staff on site work hard and diligently to aid in the guest experience. Great to see the centre expanding once more to further improve the facilities.

It isn’t really possible to articulate how incredible Hayulima is. One has to experience it for themselves. The majesty of the surrounding forest is breathtaking. The wisdom of the Shamans is clear. The plant medicine is indisputably powerful. I can’t recommend it enough for people in search of meaning, answers, or healing.

Ecuador is a beautiful country with kind people. The physical journey to the retreat is really quite interesting as someone from the flat plains of Texas. Taking a trip through the countryside always makes me feel like I’m in a dream. Hayulima is comfortably situated deep in the mountains away from the distractions of modern life. There is a peace and quiet there that most people will unfortunately never be familiar with. One thing I must recommend is that you bring long pants and bug spray as there are many insects. Other than that, the wildlife is beautiful, and I was lucky to catch a glimpse of some toucans. The weather is comfortable day or night and is never too hot or too cold.

The accommodations are simple, yet cozy. Everyone is friendly, including the staff and guests. It’s a more intimate setting than some of the other Ayahuasca retreats I’ve been to. You get to eat meals and converse with the Shamans as with anyone else. It’s amazing to talk to them and the other guests about deep topics that many people are anxious to talk to their own family about. It’s really helped me to open up more in my everyday life. The Shamans are great people with years of experience and will help you through the ceremonies. At least half of what makes the retreat so amazing are the people you meet.

As for the plant medicines, it’s saved my life. Ayahuasca and San Pedro really are miraculous. A myriad of revelations crosses my mind anytime I’m with the plant medicine, but there were two main points that I most clearly learned during my latest trip. First of all, I tend to catastrophize. Whenever I encounter life’s hardships, my mind focuses on the worst possible outcomes. I’ve learned to go with the flow and expect life to be good. Even when bad things happen, I know my spirit is strong and I’ll make it through. Secondly, I’ve learned that negativity is a choice and it’s possible to repudiate negativity through the strength of willpower. You have to banish bad thoughts and feelings from your mind deliberately. Know, however, that the plant medicines are not silver bullets. They are guides along your spiritual path. Ascending spiritually is a process that requires time and effort, but if you’re interested in putting in the work, Hayulima is definitely the place for you.

I had such an amazing, beautiful experience with the shaman Salvador. He created such a safe space for the journey I was on. I would trust him to guide my closest friends and family on their Aya journeys as well.

Salvador and the family are the most lovely people I’ve ever met. They work with a lot of care and integrity and you feel genuinely loved and cared for in their presence. I would not drink Ayahuasca with anyone else. If you are starting off on your journey or are far down the path, you will find Hayulima to be a magical, safe, and supportive container.

Hayulima is such a magical place, I am so grateful I got to sit with the medicine here. It was hard sometimes (of course) but also beautiful and transformational. Each ceremony was small, I felt safe and supported. The medicine was just beautiful! The singing and the various instruments the Shamans played are out of this world. I got I really connected with Amalia, one of the Shamans – she is very approachable, caring and provided so much support and guidance throughout the retreat. We talked on the first day, she asked me a lot of questions about what I wanted to work on and she kept checking on me to make sure I was ok. The land is absolutely gorgeous, well cared for, a very relaxing environment. The beds were comfortable, the meals served were simple and healthy. This place is the real deal – I highly recommend Hayulima for an authentic experience with Ayahuasca (and San Pedro).
