The Setting

A beautiful view of Vilcabamba, EcuadorWe offer San Pedro ceremonies each week in a cozy, private, safe, and relaxing space, The countryside around Santa Isabel, Ecuador (just outside of Cuenca) is stunningly beautiful and provides the backdrop for what is sure to be a profound experience for you, as it has consistently been for us as well.

The Medicine

Slices of the powerful cactus, San PedroSan Pedro, also known as Huachuma or Wachuma, is a sacred cactus that has been used in shamanic plant medicine ceremonies for thousands of years in the Amazonian region.

It is said to be a plant teacher, and you will quickly discover why as you begin to have a conversation with the spirit of the plant, which is known as Grandfather San Pedro. Because, just a like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have even felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.

The Ceremony

plant-teacherEvery day starts with a warm cup of tea of coffee and friendly conversation as we settle into the new day.

Then, around 10a.m. Steve smudges us all with white sage to clear any sort of negative energies that may be present.

Next, we sit in a small circle, and Steve shares some basic guidelines to the ceremony, and then one-by-one, we each share our intentions with the medicine. This might be as simple as “My intention is to know myself better”, or you might choose to go into more detail.

The medicine is then poured in a glass for each person, and after taking as much time with it as you would prefer, you are welcomed to drink the medicine and find a nice place to settle in.

From then on, the primary element to the ceremony is a conversation that will begin in your head between you and the medicine. You might liken this to speaking to yourself silently, although it will very likely soon be clear that the entity you’re speaking to is a very wise plant teacher who is lovingly known as Grandfather San Pedro.

Just like a grandfather, he can swaddle you with a level of emotional warmth and tender affection that will touch your heart in a way you might not have ever felt before, and he can also provide you with tough-love advice if it’s needed too.

You will feel the primary effects of the medicine for about 10 hours, during which time you’ll be given plenty of space for solitude, surrounded by the amazing beauty of the Ecuadorian countryside.

This provides many opportunities to look inside yourself in many different ways, and you will have an unlimited amount of Steve’s support, not only as a warm, gentle human being, but also as a trained and experienced counselor, with specialties in addictions and childhood trauma.

Steve is always within earshot if support is needed, and he checks on you periodically to see how you’re doing. You’re also welcome to roam around the property to find whatever little perch suits you best.

Midway through the ceremony, fresh fruit is served, which is always a welcomed treat, and at the end of each ceremony, a warm and hardy meal is served which really warms your bones to the core.

Finally, Steve provides angel card readings which you will likely find quite illuminating and may provide some clarification to your experiences throughout the day.

The Facilitator

The San Pedro ceremony facilitator - Steve Eagle SewellWorkshops are held at the Eagle’s Nest – home of Steve Eagle Sewell – who is self-described as a plant medicine specialist and has chosen to dedicate his life to providing plant medicine to those who need it most.

And after a 2-year apprenticeship in Peru, he’s also facilitated ceremony for over 3,000 people and drank the medicine himself over 500 times. He is well acquainted with it’s healing power as the ultimate healer of addiction, dis-ease and dis-order.

The Bottom Line

If you want to discover who you are, what you believe in, how to heal, and how to find your path, you’ve found the right place 🙂

I was recommended San Pedro Ceremonies with Steve Eagle through a friend while travelling through Ecuador.

My partner and I attended a one day workshop and well over a month later we are still feeling the positive effects of the San Pedro medicine. It helped me heal some childhood traumas that I had carried well into adulthood. I felt the San Pedro brought a deeper and more personal healing than counselling had ever come close to giving me. Steve and Sammy made it a very safe, comfortable, warm and loving environment to work through these things. Not to mention, the views of the beautiful Ecuadorian landscapes added to my spiritual connection with nature and a feeling of overall peacefulness. Sammy made delicious, healthy meals and we really felt at home from the moment we arrived. We loved playing with the dogs Squiggs and Sadie, we even felt protected by them during our ceremony.

I am so thankful to have been led to this place and for the healing work Steve Eagle is sharing, he is truly gifted. I look forward to one day returning.

I spent two weeks with Steve and his partner Sammy completing 6 ceremonies.
It was an exceptional experience. The medicine is top quality and grown locally. I had a relational issue as well as some other matters to clear spiritually and I exceeded my expectations. Additionally Steve’s partner Sammy is an outstanding massage therapist and was able to help me heal a chronic injury with my shoulder. She is amazing! Sammy is also an awesome cook. I am vegan but found it difficult to keep vegan in Ecuador so shifted to a vegetarian diet while there. The eggs and cheese were very good (I’m now back to being vegan and am missing these proteins!!!). Sammys veggie stew, veggie tacos, lasagna, desserts as well as Steve’s special soup were all amazing compliments to the medicine! Steve and Sammy (and their two small dogs) will look after you very well so dont hesitate to consider this place for healing work with Huachuma (San Pedro). This is their home and not a Centre per se where you will get your own room. Its a beautiful place. Numerous fruit trees on the property. AN Amazing beautiful healing medicine 🙂

When you’re in doubt if San Pedro is the plant medicine for you, this is definitely the place to try it!! I tagged along with my boyfriend and was not planning to try this at all (because I was afraid) but after talking with Steve I changed my mind (or maybe more my heart 😉 within 5 minutes! He is such a gentle, wise man who really made me feel very safe within a heartbeat… special guy. The day after we came back for the ceremony and we were well taken care off by Steve and Darby, what a power team <3…

Not only we decided to stay much longer then 1 ceremony (because it's so freaking amazing and learningful, heart-opening and really connecting with the 'oneness') I also feel I received a whole new, warm family with this experience.

I can't believe how much this plant medicine has taught me, I will be grateful for this experience the rest of my life. No matter if you're 'just curious' or you're looking for healing… this is the place where magic truly happens.

Steve & Darby (and ofcourse Squiggle & Sadie) thank you so much, you truly changed my life <3.

    Till next time! X Femke

I was lucky enough to spend 7 weeks with this wonderful man, teacher, shaman, healer, friend and father, at his beautiful home in Ecuador close to Santa Isabel. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure to be Steve’s and Darby’s guests and work with them for several weeks while we drank San Pedro multiple times. They took us in like family and we became closer than friends through all the wonderful experiences and journeys shared! Thanks again for opening up your beautiful home to us!

There wasn’t a dull moment; the view of the Andes is amazing, the conversations are mind blowing and the dogs so sweet! The way ceremonies are held I’m confident anybody will feel respected and comfortable and through the medicine find back their power, truth and path in life. Steve is an exceptional counsler and healer who is always there for you. Darby is an extraordinary host, listener and wise one, always ready to help. Thank you guys so much for your time and wisdom!

We will return and continue to spread love!

The view on the Andes mountains, the way the ceremonies are held and the people who make you feel save and loved. This was my first encounter with San Pedro but will most certainly not be my last.

I can recommend this place for anybody who is looking to try San Pedro for the first time, wants to reconnect with nature or is looking to find him- or herself again.

Thank you for the wonderful place and the medicine you have created.
