La Luna is run by Maestro Don Guido Rimachi. The center was first opened in 1987 as the local village clinic by the Rimachi brothers, and used to serve mainly local patients. As time went on the word was spread, and patients from all over Peru and the rest of the world started to show up. Throughout the last 30 years people have traveled to Santa Maria de Ojeal for healing.

2015 Don Guido decided to expand the village clinic into a full-service Ayahuasca healing center with private bungalows for visitors traveling abroad, wishing to stay many nights and focus on personal healing.

In 2016 the new facilities were opened with a different name, but the sacred Amazonian healing techniques remain. Our shamans work the traditional way with Ayahuasca, passed down through many generations.

Today, La Luna del Amazonas is both one of the oldest and the newest centers around. The center is traditional yet modern, perfect for those who want access to ancient healing in a comfortable environment.

I had maybe the most life changing experience in my life at La Luna.
I was worried about travelling so far (from Europe) alone, especially solo female during Covid, but the travel went smoothly, both entering the country and leaving. (You need a negative covid test to enter Peru, August 2021).

Feeling safe was the most important factor for me, but my fears faded away quickly after talking to Enrique (the translator) and the shamans once arriving to the center.

The center is surrounded by immense nature, and we got visited by wild monkeys daily, and a tour on the Amazon river we got to swim at the spot with pink dolphins.
I also learned a lot about shamanism and the healing plants in the jungle. And as a bonus I received a few immune system boosters (all from the jungle) to bring home.

This was my first time with mother ayahuasca and I felt very safe and taken care of during my stay both in ceremonies and after.
The songs during ceremony are so beautiful, healing, and the flower-baths cleansing…

The medicine was very strong, so I’m very happy we started out with what they call an introductory dose

I can highly recommend La Luna to anyone who looks for an authentic place where they respect the traditions.

I was reluctant to leave this review any earlier, as I didn’t want to claim everything had changed just to have it all fall back to how it was before. But now, 12 months later, I can safely say this retreat was not only one of the best weeks of my life, but also left me with permanent healing.

As a solo female traveller with no psychedelic experience behind me, it was important that I found a safe environment. I searched many ayahuasca forums for references and eventually stumbled across La Luna. The moment I stepped off the boat and into this Amazon paradise I automatically felt at home. The set-up, the genuine nature of the staff and the authenticity of the sharman had me trusting the medicine immediately.

My trips were mostly euphoric and each one added to a new understanding of life. I had complete out of body experiences and once I even experienced a complete separation from my ego. I never knew I had a fear of dying, but suddenly a weight has been taken off my shoulders. My panic attacks and burnout I was experiencing in my stressful lifestyle have lifted and I now sense my anxiety coming up well before it’s allowed to become an issue.

Perhaps the greatest thing I was left with was complete healing from my Ulcerative Colitis. The gut issues that had plagued me daily for the last 7 years disappeared upon my very first session (Here I am 12 months later and this have NEVER returned)

I have had a few ayahuasca sessions since this elsewhere during my travels and none have remotely compared to La Luna, nor have I ever felt other Sharman to be as authentic nor the environment as safe. I cannot recommend this place any more highly.

Thank you Enrique and the team, I look forward to coming back again one day soon!

I had a indelibly incredible experience at this place. There is truly something magical being built here, and if you are seeking an authentic experience in the embrace of Mother Ayahuasca, I can’t imagine a better destination. This is clean and safe medicine practiced by those with a deep understanding of its purpose. Not a casual resort with every unnatural frill.. Real work being done here to better the lives of those who visit, with a great group of facilitators and shamans. Ceremonies are accented with a fluid schedule of activities that don’t overwhelm the intended focus of the retreat. An absolutely beautiful location in both spirit and environment.

I booked a two week retreat at La Luna Del Amazonas. I won’t go into depth about my ayahuasca experience as this is subjective for everyone but I will explain a bit about the experience I had with the retreat itself. I made my choice for a retreat by looking at reviews and couldn’t be more satisfied with the choice I made. I recommend this place highly.

The overall vibe at the retreat is that there’s no real time or schedule you have to follow, but at the same time everything is well organized in the background. You get picked up in Iquitos, get a warm welcome and head to your bungalow. The bungalows are built with mosquito nets around it, which really gives you the feeling that you are one with the jungle. Enrique (the owner) and his brother (Andreas) both speak English and Spanish. Wherever translation is needed they will help you out. Both of them and the staff really make sure you feel at home and comfortable. Lita (a cook with 25 years of experience) makes the diet you’ll follow amazing, she has some real cooking skills, you’ll understand when you get there. The shamans (Guido, Jack and Leonardo) are really knowledgeable. This was really important for me, as they will guide you through your spiritual journey.

You don’t have to do anything but there are plenty of activities and things you can do during your stay, a trip to monkey island where you can play with wooly monkeys (+ swimming in the Amazon river), a plant medicine tour, a lecture about the work of the shamans, yoga classes (depends if there’s a yoga teacher atm), reading in the library, chilling in the hammocks, fishing with a homemade rod (that’s what I did), basically enough to keep you busy if you wish so.

I think everyone can benefit from doing a few ayahuasca ceremonies. I went in positive and without many things I felt I had to work on. For some kind of reason I just felt the calling to come to the Amazon in Peru for some ayahuasca ceremonies, you’ll know when you’ll know, and got my value out of it. I think in the end everybody has something they want to work on or improve and Ayahuasca is a great way to become more aware of that thing and start doing some major work instantly, you have no choice as mother ayahuasca knows it.
