La Luna is run by Maestro Don Guido Rimachi. The center was first opened in 1987 as the local village clinic by the Rimachi brothers, and used to serve mainly local patients. As time went on the word was spread, and patients from all over Peru and the rest of the world started to show up. Throughout the last 30 years people have traveled to Santa Maria de Ojeal for healing.
2015 Don Guido decided to expand the village clinic into a full-service Ayahuasca healing center with private bungalows for visitors traveling abroad, wishing to stay many nights and focus on personal healing.
In 2016 the new facilities were opened with a different name, but the sacred Amazonian healing techniques remain. Our shamans work the traditional way with Ayahuasca, passed down through many generations.
Today, La Luna del Amazonas is both one of the oldest and the newest centers around. The center is traditional yet modern, perfect for those who want access to ancient healing in a comfortable environment.

All of the staff are really understanding and super kind, and together with all the guests looking for healing they create an amazing atmosphere of loving acceptance. I’ve never before experienced anything like it, and it has helped me be aware of and spread the love that I am. My view of life was altered significantly for the better during my stay, and I’m forever grateful for everything. Peace and love!

February 4, 2018 at 12:58 amI blame Maestro Benigno Maestro Guido and especially GrandMasterMaestro Enrique for the immense good fortunes I have experienced since communing with La Mamita under these Gentlemen’s watchful warm embraces..I am dating a hothothot Arab Physician, got formally invited into the Masonic Brotherhood, won a gnarley weed dispensary raffle for like $500. These may seem like small paltry things but I have only been home three days.
I have not one even slightly negative thing to say…

If you are looking for an affordable ayahuasca retreat with dedicated staff, powerful shamans, and a strong brew, look no further. Everyone here works extremely hard and is totally committed to the betterment of your health, and will go the extra mile for your healing process. Enrique is honest, upstanding, professional, and extremely kind. Don Guido and Don Marcial are trustworthy, hardworking, generous with their time, and 100% dedicated to their ceremonies and your holistic healing (and extremely kind as well ☺). While I had a decent time integrating my ceremony experiences while I was there, some of my compatriots did have difficult experiences. The staff and the shamans were very understanding, patient, and loving in hearing out these experiences, assisting participants in integrating their more taxing visions, and always willing to fully and attentively engage both in and outside of the vision sharing meetings that take place each day after a ceremony. Due to this dedication and small group sizes, La Luna fosters a powerful atmosphere of appropriately intimate mutual care, concern, and love. Everyone was always looking out for one another.
Suffice to say I arrived at La Luna filled with anxiety, constantly combating suicidal ideation, and doubled over on a cane from a terrible and mysterious pain in my leg and sciatic nerve that made any locomotion whatsoever an excruciating trial. Getting out to the jungle was difficult, but I had a ton of support from the staff the whole way, and by the time I had finished with my two-week stay, I could walk without my cane. If that wasn’t enough, I felt consistently emotionally better and better every single day after taking the ayahuasca, – revivified, grateful and glad to be alive. This feeling has not diminished upon my return to the western world. In fact I feel as though my mental and physical well-being has only continued to improve.
Trust and faith are tantamount for the success of this process and the staff and shamans of La Luna are worthy of your trust. The brew is powerful, the center is beautiful, and these people are absolutely the real deal.

August 30, 2017 at 7:34 pmI came to La Luna after weeks of researching and trying to find a healing centre that best suited my needs. I had participated in numerous ceremonies previously and it was a little challenging to know of the most appropriate place for ayahuasca in the Amazon and a place that I felt was truly authentic and suitable for myself and my needs. Then I stumbled across La Luna. La Luna is a place that is very near and dear to me. I spent 1-month volunteering at this incredible healing centre and the experience is quite hard to put into words. This centre is the real deal, it is a truly authentic place to be and the surroundings are serene. When I came to La Luna I felt like I had entered another world, I felt safe, I felt at peace and I felt at home. During my one month stay I helped teach English to the children in the village, these kids are beautiful and so, so keen to learn.
The people in Santa Maria are so welcoming and friendly, living the simple life, watching the way they interact and live is a very valuable learning and lesson in itself, very inspiring.
As for the centre, the owners Enrique and Chris welcomed me with open arms, you will instantly fall in love with the team here, the vibe is relaxed and chilled in all the right ways. I felt very connected to the shamans, I felt very safe and well taken care of during the ceremonies and the chats the next day were great and very insightful. The shamans have so much knowledge, take advantage of it.
The bungalows are simple and super cosy, the sounds of the jungle at night are unbelievable. The food, whilst sticking to the ayahuasca diet was simple yet so delicious and tasty, so many fresh vegetables and fruits. We went on some great day trips, monkey island was a highlight and swimming in the Amazon river. Aaaaa what else can I say; what a truly intense but deeply rewarding experience.
I will be back to La Luna as soon as I can. Such a magical, mystical, marvellous place that is very special and close to me. Much love to everyone there.

It’s located in a beautiful and friendly village far enough from Iquitos to feel completely away from the city’s influence, but close enough to be convenient (approximately a 45 minute boat ride down the Amazon). Enrique is the exact right type of crazy to navigate you through the lively and unpredictable jungle, and into the depths of your own consciousness and/or the spirit world. The shaman, Guido, is the best whistler I’ve ever heard; his icaros are beautiful and his presence is incredibly calming. Furthermore, he spent quality time before and after every ceremony discussing our experiences, sharing insights and personal anecdotes, and preparing us for the next session. The authenticity of the entire experience shines through in every facet of this place.
In terms of amenities, La Luna has everything you need, and not a whole lot that you don’t. Simple bungalows with mosquito nets, a shower, good food with fresh fruits and vegetables, hammocks and a nice hangout space, a beautiful temple, and a smattering of incredibly genuine and interesting people–both those who live there and those just passing through. Their ayahuasca brews will get you into whatever mental state you are looking to achieve, and you will be supported throughout the experience by knowledgeable and empathetic people.
In my brief time there (4 days was not long enough) I made a spiritual connection with a jaguar from another dimension, made brief contact with an otherworldly being of some kind, and gained insights both about myself and about the nature of reality. It was beautiful, confusing, intense, peaceful, and everything else. I can still feel the effects of the medicine working on me as I write this 10 days later. There truly is magic in this world, and for you open-minded individuals browsing this page, La Luna is a great place for you to encounter it 🙂
