Arkana Spiritual Center

Iquitos and Urubamba in Peru

Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.

With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.

Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.

Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.

Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.

Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.

We look forward to having you with us!

Lots of Love,
The Team

How do you leave a review for an experience that words can’t do justice for? I came to Arkana not knowing what to expect, and I left with a brand new start at life. 5 stars will never be enough to show the quality of this place. From the cleaning staff that keeps the place clean and tidy, to the kitchen staff that prepares the most delicious and healthy meals you can ask for, to the security ensuring we are safe, to the facilitators that bring the warmest, calmest energy while you go through deep work, to the shamans that bring you the exact energy you need. Arkana feels safe, it feels protected. There is no better place to sit with the medicine and surrender to the process. You can let go of all your fears and worries here. Arkana lets you dive deep into your journey while they protect and watch over your physical being. If you have any calling to the medicine, this is the place to go. Couldn’t imagine my first experience being anywhere else. There are a few fun tours to go on to see monkeys, sloths, birds, caymans, the libertad village. Friendly cats around the premises too which are awesome!

I spent two weeks at Arkana Sacred Valley for my second experience working with the medicine, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. What drew me to Arkana was their deep respect for the Shipibo traditions and the authenticity with which they hold their ceremonies. A few friends had also recommended it, and now I know why.

From the moment you’re picked up to the moment you’re dropped off, everything is flawlessly organized. You truly don’t need to worry about a thing—just relax, be present, and focus on your journey.

As a bilingual guest, I felt incredibly welcomed. I was able to connect with everyone—from the facilitators to the kitchen staff, reception team, and even the cleaning crew. The sense of community and warmth is undeniable. The facilitators were especially supportive, always available to help with integration or simply share meaningful conversations, laughter, and love.

I came in with intentions, but what unfolded went beyond what I imagined. One of the most beautiful lessons I took with me was realizing how deeply love can be felt among strangers walking the same path.

A heartfelt shoutout to everyone who made this journey so special. The support doesn’t end when the retreat does—you truly become part of the Arkana family, and they remain available to support you afterward.

I 100% recommend Arkana. It’s a genuine, heart-centered space—refreshingly different from the many commercial retreats out there today.

The retreat was everything and more than I hoped for. The staff was kind and the property was beautiful. Most importantly I felt safe there, physically and emotionally.

Arkana Sacred Valley saved my life. I was on a dark, self destructive path before I went there. I went to Arkana a lost orphan but I left there with a whole new family. I was a sceptic when I arrived but the maestros, their ikaros & their plant medicine is the closest thing to magic I’ve ever experienced. I was finally able to let go of all the things that had been dragging me down and controlling my life. Cannot understate how safe and loving of an environment this place is. The facilitators are the kindest people I’ve ever met. I think I may move to the Sacred Valley one day just to be closer to the magic of Arkana.

I went to Arkana in the Amazon jungle with no expectations never having ever experienced ayahuasca before. I have heard about the medicine and watched many reviews and stories of people explaining what they’ve experienced, but nothing could’ve ever prepared me for the experience that I received. Not only was the medicine and the whole healing journey an experience on its own, but the facility as a whole made me realize that it is all connected. Every single thing is carefully planned out with a purpose. The center was really five star for being in the middle of the Amazon. The food that we received was so rich and flavorful and beautifully prepared and planed out for an ayahuasca diet. I felt like I can completely let go and be vulnerable in a space where I can fully trust the facilitators and the shamans guiding and healing me. I would highly recommend this facility to any person looking to experience this plant medicine. Arkana takes great pride in perfecting and maintaining the sacred traditions of the Shipibo tribe. I could truly feel the love that they have put in to every single thing they do. I have been back for a second round to the same place at Arkana in the Amazon jungle and I feel like I would easily go back for a third. It truly is all in all a life-changing magical experience of healing. I will always be truly grateful for Arkana and the space that they provided me. Thank you.
