Our Program
At Arkana, we create the space for you to get in touch with your truth, opening your path for deeper meaning and greater fulfillment in your life. We work with ancestral medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Bufo Alvarius, Rapé , using the traditional practices of the indigenous cultures of the Peruvian Amazon. We currently operate two centers in Peru, one in the Peruvian Amazon and a second one in the Sacred Valley (close to Machu Picchu), and one in Mexico, the choice is yours.
With great respect for the plants and the knowledge and healing that comes with them, our lineage of Shipibo shamans set the stage for truly deep and profound healing. Awaken your inner power through their sacred and powerful icaros (healing songs), and discover your connection to all things by exploring some of the 2.2 million hectare Pacaya Samiria National Reserve which is our backyard. Nourish your body and soul with fresh, clean, delicious meals that promote your Ayahuasca experience, and integrate healthy habits into your routine with our yoga classes and extensive selection of gym equipment for all levels. We believe the health of physical body sets the foundation for the health of the energetic body – Often ignored in this type of spiritual work, we find this to be an important part of the healing process, so you can begin implementing the healthy habits that will carry this work with you into your life back home. Finally, relax your mind and spirit with sound baths, meditations, breathwave sessions, and OM circles, or simply enjoy the tranquil views of both sunrise and sunset from our front porch on the banks of the Ucayali River, surrounded by lush biodiversity and the mesmerizing sounds of the jungle.
Arkana’s exceptional team of highly-trained Shipibo Master Shamans represent an unbroken lineage of plant medicine work. With a combined history of over 70 years of experience working closely with Ayahuasca and other master plant teachers of the jungle, our compassionate healers lovingly share their teachings, healing songs (icaros), capabilities, and knowledge with integrity and honor. We strive to maintain the traditional practices passed down through thousands of years of indigenous Amazonian culture, in order to continue to promote the true purpose and nature of plant medicine work.
Experiencing the medicines with us is a transformative personal journey, and so much more. We also work closely with our local community, the Amazonian village of Libertad, to ensure that our Center can benefit and give back to the people who have so generously let us into their homes and hearts. We create employment opportunities, teach free English classes, provide a space for the ladies to sell their handmade crafts, and assist in construction projects, among other things. Our latest endeavor is outfitting the entire village with free solar panels, so every house can have light and electricity. When you join us, you are helping the rainforest and the Amazon communities that live here.
Guests that come to our Center often say they feel like “part of the family” with us – that’s no coincidence, as we are one big family at Arkana! The people that are with you throughout your experience can simply facilitate your own healing journey or become an integral part of it. Our experienced, loving, and professional team of caregivers welcomes you to join our tribe, where we strive to make you feel at home and at ease, supported and cared for with all the love and compassion that is at the core of the plant medicines and people we work with.
Ayahuasca is a powerful medicine that offers us the opportunity to understand our true nature, by shining a light onto our darkness, and holding a mirror up to our fears, negative thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs. We provide the environment and expertise of a team of highly skilled, warm, compassionate Shamans and facilitators to guide you through the process of awakening, of choosing differently, healing, and expanding. It is a slow but steady path towards freedom – from fear, from illusion, from self-constructed boundaries – resulting in a lighter, brighter, more authentic self, and the full experience of love. It is our honor to help you on this most fulfilling of all journeys: the journey back home.
We look forward to having you with us!
Lots of Love,
The Team

June 1, 2021 at 2:03 amI spent one week at Shambalante in Mexico during spring 2021. This was my 2nd experience with Arkana International and it was just as wonderful as the 2 weeks I spent with Arkana this winter. The facilitators, staff, medince carriers and entire team at Shambalante create a truly magical experience. The delicious food and beautiful accommodations are truly beyond measure. Sitting with the wise medicines and spirits of Ayahuasca, mushroom (psilocybin) and Sappo along with the opening Temazcal ceremony really works in ways that are hard to put in words. The overall compassion gained for others and for myself are a priceless gift. I feel my deep connection to the earth and all that live here strengthened. The container set for healing and releasing of things that I have been carrying with me I am forever grateful for. When the saying “love is all you need” is felt so deeply you begin to look at life with completely new eyes. Thank you Arkana for all that you offer the world.
I can not recommend them enough. Blessings

June 1, 2021 at 1:09 amMy journey at Arkana was absolutely incredible. I had been feeling called to plant medicine the last year, but I also wanted to find a space/container that spoke to me and that I would feel safe going to. I had kept hearing about Arkana and finally listened to that voice inside of me and I’m so happy I did. I spent one week at the retreat and it felt like 10 years of therapy. Jose and everyone that worked there and make everything possible were so amazing and thoughtful. There are no words to truly explain my journey with ayahuasca and the other plant medicines… after being back to my “normal life” I’ve noticed so many changes in the way I carry myself, the way I’m able to sit with my breath and process my emotions – instead of emotionally reacting to them. The shamans had such beautiful energy and I felt so safe. If you’re thinking about taking this step in your life, I highly recommend Arkana. I hope to be able to go to Arkana Peru soon and continue my journey.

May 31, 2021 at 11:03 pmHi, my name is Fei. I feel it’s time to share my honest review about Ayuhuasca trip with Arkana spiritual center. Six weeks ago I showed up in the Yucatan jungles with a group of combat veterans, during our weeklong stay I had my first Ayuhuasca ceremony. Through our shared struggled we bonded like family, and rise from our deep pain I felt great strength in collective healing.
Arkana retreat is a lovely eco sanctuary tucked away in an oasis of natural serenity, I felt a warm welcome from Jose and his staff from the moment we arrived. I felt so supported and loved that everything was intentional for healing. It was a profound experience for me, absolutely transformational and I feel so thankful. Since I returned to “normal” life I noticed subtle yet powerful shifts at every level, I’m feeling so much gratitude running through my veins now and feeling passionate about life, I love seeing the world from a new vantage point where happiness is nature state of being.
If you’re on the fence about Ayuhuasca, what does your heart say? For me, it was to take the leap of faith, and I feel so glad that now I know this is what healing feels like. Let the plant medicine guide you to drop your resistance to receive the true blessings. Ayuhuasca showed me that I am an embodiment of love and healing. I feel so free and so fully supported that I am extremely pleased with my week at Arkana. So excited for the future and can’t wait to go back and visit my Arkana family. Good luck to you fellow travelers 🙂
Much love,
Fei

May 31, 2021 at 7:09 pmArkana provides the most beautiful setting, all the tools you need to create the right set, and the right doses (ayahuasca and peyote when I was there) —and it’s all completely safe and thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening and legal.
All of this is accomplished with the care and expertise and respect you would expect from a fully professional organization.

May 31, 2021 at 6:46 pmHi everyone!
So, I spent a week at Arkana Spiritual Center Yucatan from 4/4 – 4/10 and it was an extraordinary time from start to finish. I highly recommend their facility to anyone looking for an Ayahuasca, San Pedro (Peyote), and/or 5-MEO-DMT (Bufo Alvarius) experience in a safe, welcoming, and ceremonial setting.
Firstly, I appreciated the shuttle bus service to and from the retreat center. The meet-up location was a hotel close to the Cancun International Airport which was convenient considering it was my first time in Mexico and I did not know my way around (yet!). It did cost extra to ride on the shuttle bus, but it was money well used as it gave me an opportunity to chat with other attendees and bond before (and after) the retreat technically even started.
Secondly, upon arrival to the Yucatan hacienda I immediately noticed that it is well maintained for its placement in the Mexican/Mayan jungle. Borderline luxury as there are bathroom with showers and sinks with running water (hot or cold), rooms that have electricity to power fans for hot days, a dining hall where their kitchen serves 2-3 enjoyable meals a day (quantity of meals per day depending on if there was a ceremony that night), but also a large presence of nature like iguanas seen roaming through the retreat foliage or mosquitos that try to bite you all night during ceremonies outdoors. The amenities were outstanding, and personally I think the iguanas, ants, mosquitos and such added to the authenticity of the experience.
Thirdly, the medicines served during the week I had chosen were Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and 5-MEO-DMT. All of which were, in my opinion, administered in a respectful setting to their traditional indigenous history. It was great to experience the ceremonial/ritualistic aspect of the experience because I feel it strengthened my connection to the plant and ancestor spirits. I especially loved the icaros that the shamans sang. There was a lot of purging for me over the span of 4 night ceremonies (2 San Pedro, 2 Aya), so be prepared to clean your aura and experience the healing of a lifetime, perhaps even the healing of multiple lifetimes!
Fourth, the staff there was courteous, friendly, and supportive people that I enjoyed spending a week learning from and learning with. Most every facilitator played a musical instrument and would guide the ceremonies with singing and playing. Their musical abilities were unmatched and a real treat to have in the sacred spaces, especially Ariel. Also, there were several moments where I must have been real spaced out during a ceremony where they would come over to check on me and give me love and support which was a real help. It was nice to be around people I felt I could trust in those vulnerable moments. Special shoutout to Dakota Wint, Pete and Jose whom I got to know the best out of all them.
Lastly, I loved the shamans Marakame Juan, Maestra Justina, and Maestro Misael. I feel blessed to have been in the same room as them because I know that their presence and Icaros were a tremendous part in the healing and cleansing I endured. Even while sitting in a pitch-black room on Ayahuasca I could feel their light and their warmth and it was so profound. You must meet them.
All in all, if you are someone looking to have a genuine spiritual experience in a safe, ceremonial setting then Arkana Ayahuasca is the place for you! In Justina we trust!
